VinUniversity provides dedicated support for international students, including visa guidance, financial advising, transportation support, housing assistance, and diverse dining options. These services ensure a smooth transition and help students feel at home while focusing on their academic and personal growth in Vietnam.

VinUniversity is located at Vinhomes Ocean Park, approximately 40 km from Noi Bai International Airport. Travel time ranges from 45 to 90 minutes, depending on traffic and transport method.

Travel Options:

  • VinBus (Route E10):

Electric bus service connecting the airport to Vinhomes Ocean Park. Fare: 20,000 VND. While budget-friendly, a private vehicle is recommended for convenience and safety.

  • Taxi or Ride-Hailing Apps (e.g., Grab, Klook):

Available at the airport or via mobile apps. Estimated cost: 350,000 – 650,000 VND depending on time and vehicle type.

  • Green SM Taxi:

Eco-friendly taxi option. Fares vary based on distance and time.

VinUniversity offers a complimentary airport pickup service for newly admitted students. To schedule a pickup, students must contact the Admissions Office in advance and provide flight details and arrival time.

You can purchase SIM cards from Viettel, Vinaphone, or Mobifone at Noi Bai Airport or authorized mobile retailers in Hanoi. A valid passport is required for registration. Popular Mobile Packages:

  • ST90K: 1GB/day (30GB/month), 90,000 VND

Mobifone (via 888):

  • MAX100: 1.2GB/month, 100,000 VND

To activate, text the package code to the relevant number. Always check that your SIM is successfully registered to use data services.

1. Opening a Bank Account:

  • Visit a local bank (e.g., Techcombank, BIDV, HSBC) in Hanoi or Ocean Park. Most have English-speaking staff.
  • Bring required documents (passport, student ID, visa/residence permit).
  • Fill in the bank’s application forms. You can ask the teller or a Vietnamese friend for help.
  • Wait for account activation (from a few minutes up to 14 days).
  • Download your bank’s mobile app for easy transactions.

Note: ATM cards may only be issued after a few months of residence.

2. Currency Exchange:

You can exchange money at:

  • Noi Bai Airport currency booths (English-friendly)
  • Local banks after opening your account

Bring ID when exchanging money. The process is generally simple and fast.

  • Foodology & The Little Kitchen: Two main food courts serving diverse and affordable meals for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Fresh Garden: Ideal for a quick breakfast with fresh bánh mì, pastries, and more.
  • Highlands Coffee: Popular Vietnamese coffee chain offering drinks and light snacks right on campus.
  • Convenience stores nearby also offer hot snacks like dumplings for students on the go.

  • Local convenience stores near campus (Circle K, Kai Mart, H Mart…) offer snacks, personal items, and ready-to-eat meals.

2. Food & Grocery Delivery Apps:

  • Shopee: Order groceries and essentials via the Food & Mall sections.

3. Special Dietary Needs & Halal Options

  • If you follow a vegan or vegetarian diet, try Om Indian Restaurant & Bar for plant-based meals.

Important Note:

  • Visa Validity: Students are responsible for tracking and renewing their visa on time. Expired visas may result in penalties and affect enrollment or legal residency.
  • Overstaying Penalties: Fees are determined case-by-case by the Vietnamese Immigration Department.
  • Travel Restrictions: Students must not travel outside Hanoi during the visa renewal process, as passports are held by immigration. Urgent travel must be approved by the Student Affairs Management Office.
